Work from home opportunities:
Make and Sell Items–Start an Etsy Shop
This is a fun job if you enjoy being crafty. A lot of people love to make their own products and sell them online.
A really good place for this is Etsy.com. Some popular items are baby accessories such as headbands, clothes, pacifier clips, hair bows, etc. Women’s accessories are also pretty popular. Some people are into graphic design, they offer business cards, logo design, printables, and a ton of templates. Crafts are also super common, such as watercolor paintings, home décor, and much more! There’s something for everyone. If I had any more time in my day I would love to have an Etsy shop!

If you truly want to stay at home, taking on some additional children to watch is a great idea. You can do it informally, or you can go to the lengths of getting state certified. Then you can set higher rates and people might trust it a little more because it’s regulated by the state.
You can also nanny or babysit for another family in their home. This is a great way of getting out of the house and still making some extra money while your kids make friends.
DIY and Flipping
This has started to become a very popular way of making money. There are so many consignment stores now that are flooded with things that can be flipped. Lots of people make money refinishing furniture, or making some cute home decor.
I’ve even known people who go find name brand clothing at consignment stores and sell them online and make a large profit. Walk through any Walmart, I bet you will find so many things you look at and think, “I could make that, heck I could make something better than that!” If you’re crafty, this is a good way to make money with a small investment!
Utilize a Skill you can turn into a work from home career
There are so many skills that people possess that they can turn into a career from home. Some women went to cosmetology school and offer beauty services out of their home. If you’re great at typing, you can try transcribing. If you can sew, look for a company that likes to outsource their work.
Teach English Online
Another really common job people have started doing from home is teaching English online to children in other parts of the world. This job is great because you only work a few hours of the day, and it’s either super early in the morning, or late at night, while your kids are sleeping! Some companies require a degree, but some don’t. A common company that requires a degree is VIPkid, and a common company that doesn’t require a degree is Qkids. The payout is just slightly better when you have a degree!
Become a social media manager or virtual assistant
If you have a good understanding of social media, you can be a social media manager. Or, if you want to act as someone’s personal assistant over the internet, you can be a virtual assistant! There are a ton of businesses that are always in needs of social media managers or VA’s. Bloggers are also often looking for assistance. You can even search on indeed for virtual assistant jobs!

This is a slow moving way to make an income, but it can pay off really well if you keep working at it. Videos are so popular now, people enjoy watching videos/tutorials more than reading an article.
You can also do a combination, where you write a blog and add in your videos and promote your youtube videos. That way you can channel some traffic from Google, different social platforms, and youtube!

There are so many different multilevel marketing companies out there to choose from. If you can find something you’re passionate about, it will make it much easier to promote the products.
Out of the home money earning opportunities:
This is a quick and easy money maker if you’re not afraid of needles! Plasma is nice because it can make enough money to cover either your groceries, or utilities, or anything! After your initial appointment it usually only takes about an hour. Most centers allow you to go up to twice a week. Some centers even have free daycares! Every center pays differently, so be sure to compare and make sure you’re getting the most out of it as you can!
Work in a Daycare
This is such a great way to make money as a mother. You get to make extra money, take your kids with you, and socialize with other adults, while your children are practicing their socialization skills too! There are traditional daycares that children attend on a regular, full-time basis.
Or there are other forms of daycares that are more the in and out type, which is usually shorter, easier shifts. A lot of places have started doing this, like Ikea, or plasma donation centers, or a lot of gyms have daycares.
